Christopher Brinson stood up for the Lord at the same time he went out in the world - to elementary school - and he has been singing His praises ever since. At the age of seven, Chris was so compelled to begin his musical mission that he started directing an adult choir at his father's church by standing on a chair. Several years later with the help of his father, Bishop Joseph Brinson, he formed The Brinson Trio with his sister and brother and began singing professionally. A native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Christopher was reared in Buffalo and also was influenced by his mother, Vera Brinson, who encouraged his talent and reinforced his musical mission. Her death in 1979 became a major inspiration for Christopher to follow his calling. Today, Christopher Brinson wears many hats and they all fit well. He is a husband and father as well as an accomplished singer, composer, musician and minister. If you don't know Christopher, you do know his work. In 1990, he founded the Gospel Music Ministries Choir (GMMC). Under his direction, the GMMC has ministered with their music throughout the United States and Europe. In 1994, Christopher and the GMMC were featured on the H-Town Christmas Family Video and CD. In his fast-growing career, Christopher has worked with such gospel music legends as Shirley Caesar, Keith Pringle, Albertina Walker, D.J. Rodgers, Charisma, Bishop Freddie Washington, Beverly Crawford and Rev. Darryl Coley. Signed with Slackson Production for management, recording and production since 1990, Christopher has performed on major gospel stages in North and Central America. In Mexico City, he gave a performance with Willie Neal Johnson & The Gospel Keynotes that was so uplifting and spirit filled that the city still is talking about it. He has also made guest appearances on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show and performed many times at the Montreaux International Music Festival in Atlanta. In Winston-Salem, N.C. - where he now lives with his wife, Tammy, and their three children - Christopher and the GMMC have performed for a sellout SRO audience at Wake Forest University. In addition to his outreach ministry and busy concert tour schedule, he has written and produced music for national commercials for a major manufacturer of ethnic cosmetics and hair care products. In 1997, Christopher's quest took another affirmative step as he signed with Malaco Records to release his fresh, compelling new album, What If God Is Unhappy? Christopher co-wrote or arranged eight of its 11 cuts, including the title song. He also produced the album and plays its keyboards. The Marshall Ensemble singing group backs him on the album. Having a strong belief in spirituality and family, Christopher recognizes that without the continued strength of his Lord and Savior and the unyielding support of his family, none of these accomplishments would be possible. With that in his mind and with God on his side, he continues to be motivated and encouraged by the scripture. "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST, WHO STRENGTHENS ME" - Philippians 4:13. |
