Ron Winans has been in the gospel music industry practically since he existed. A member of the famous Winans Family, he doesn’t recall a time when music wasn’t a part of his life. He and his brothers, Marvin, Carvin and Michael, make up the legendary group, The Winans and were introduced to the masses by one of the greats of gospel music. From 1985 to 1991, the group released 10 projects, which gained them unparalleled respect in the industry and numerous accolades including Grammy awards. Songs like Ain’t No Need To Worry (recorded with Anita Baker), Tomorrow and Let My People Go were hits for the group and introduced a contemporary sound to the then traditional world of gospel music.

Ron Winans is probably best known for his recordings as Ron Winans Family and Friends. Having released 4 projects so far, songs like Abundant Life, recorded by his brother BeBe (another Grammy award-winning song), showcased Ron’s own production skills. The Family and Friends series has not only featured family members: BeBe, CeCe, Marvin, Carvin & Debbie, but highlighted such world-renowned gospel artists as Donnie McClurkin, Karen Clark Sheard and Dorinda Clark Cole. The fifth installment of the Family and Friends albums was recorded live on May 30th, 2004, at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, Michigan.

Not only is Ron remembered for his singing, but also for his testimony. A reported illness in 1997 brought the Christian community to its knees in prayer for Ron’s healing. Word of his heart attack and requests for prayer came from all sources, including the Trinity Broadcast Network.

Take time to read this recent interview as he talks about Family and Friends’ recent recording, his advice to those entering the gospel music industry and his awesome testimony of God raising him from the dead.
