Hezekiah Walker Reigns Supreme @ Blackmon Entertainment Media’s 3rd Annual Hollywood Gospel Insider Music Awards 2004!
North Hollywood, CA - In spite of the rain it was standing room only at the Globe Theater Saturday, February 21, 2004. As the best of gospel music was celebrated at the, 3rd Annual Hollywood Insider’s Gospel Music Awards. 17 awards were given, and Hezekiah Walker swept the ceremony by winning 4; Artist of the Year, Gospel CD of the Year/Contemporary, Producer of the Year for Family Affair II – “Live at Radio City Hall,” and Gospel Song of the Year, “I Need You to Survive.” The incomparable Vickie Winans won Artist of Year for her CD, “Bringing It All Together.”
Gospel Comedian of the Year, Trina “Sister Cantaloupe” Jeffries, Choir of the Year honors goes to Tim Bishop Brown & the Miracle Mass Choir. Gospel Group/Duo of the Year was won by Rizen, and Byron Cage. Traditional Gospel CD, Doug Williams and the Williams Brothers’ for, “When Mercy Found Me.” Jackie Taylor for Stage Production of the Year “Jackie Wilson Story.” Juanita Bynum received American Bible Society Book/Author of the Year Award for “Matters of the Heart.” Ben Tankard’s “Best of Ben Tankard” won for Best Gospel Jazz Inspiration, and Catch 2 , for Best Gospel Hip Hop/Rap.
Pastor’s Andrae’ Crouch and Sandra Crouch of New Christ Memorial Church in the San Fernando Valley each received the prestigious, Mahalia Jackson Humanitarian of the Year Award. Gospel Insider Living Legend Lifetime Achievement Award was won by, Harvey Watkins Jr. & the Canton Spirituals.
