Everyone is asking the question: Is hip hop dead or is it just growing up? Well, Gospelcity.com catches up with gospel rapper Precise to discuss these issues and a whole lot more.
Precise also known as Minister Bob Young has been in the game for the past 10 years and understands what Holy Hip Hop is all about. He explains the warfare that comes along with the commitment to the genre; as well as its rewards when you are faithful to God. We also get to hear about his upcoming CD entitled; His Story, My Shoes.
Gospelcity.com – It’s good to speak with you. For those who may not be familiar with you and your ministry, give us a brief look into your journey.
Precise - I’ve been involved in hip hop for the past 10-12 years. Through this form of ministry I’ve been doing a lot of things in the Kingdom and also a lot of things in the secular arena. I’ve also been connected with my partner Corey Red. Many of you may be familiar with the Corey Red/Precise album. From this divine connection, God has opened so many doors for me. I’m excited about my journey and what’s ahead of me as well.
GC – So where has your ministry taken you?
Precise – Wow, we’ve been blessed to minister in prisons, high schools, group homes, churches and on the streets where the people really need to hear the message of Jesus Christ. We’ve been blessed to minister in the inner city projects as well as the United States Pentagon, you know?
GC – It’s obvious that you are in this for pure ministry! What other paths have you crossed?
Precise - We’ve ministered with gospel greats such as Byron Cage, Yolanda Adams and then we’ve been called to let our light shine and minister for people such as Cedric The Entertainer and R&B recording artists; Carl Thomas. We just thank God for every open door that He presents to us.
GC – What made you choose hip hop music? Why not another genre?
