Building a Bridge of Hope

Building a Bridge of Hope

Gospel music phenomenon Mary Mary, and a Southern California Technology Company, help to build a “Bridge of Hope” to close the Digital Divide, and to create opportunities for inner city Youth, with a benefit Gospel concert, computers, and more!

Mary Mary’s Erica Atkins and Tina Campbell hosted a benefit concert entitled, “Building a Bridge of Hope,” for their local home church, Evangelistic Church of God in Christ located in South Central Los Angeles.

The proceeds from the benefit concert will go towards the building, furnishing, and staffing of the Evangelistic Youth Center.

When built, the Youth Center will provide a place for youth to be in a safe learning and developing environment where they can learn to apply themselves in school, and how to incorporate Faith into their daily lives.

The Youth Center will be equipped with Internet technology and offer tutoring in math, science, reading, and computer development. A generous donation of (10) ten computers for the Youth Center was made by the publicly traded, Cyber Group Network Corporation’s Chief Strategic Officer, Greg Evans. The Youth Center will also include talent development for the Young People.

Commenting on the importance of having a place for Young People to fellowship, the Pastor of Evangelistic COGIC, Pastor Charles E. Lollis states, “Too many of our kids are wandering the streets with nothing to do, so they get into trouble. [Through the Youth Center] We intend to bring some relief to this community.”

Not only did Mary Mary donate the benefit concert proceeds towards the Evangelistic Youth Center, but they surprised us all when they presented Pastor Lollis and his wife, Sister Theresa Lollis, with a check for $THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS$ towards the Youth Center!!!! Way to go Erica and Tina for Leading and Giving by example!!!

Emceeing the Youth Center benefit concert was the hilarious Gospel Comedian Jonathan Slocumb. Jonathan kept us laughing throughout the benefit concert, but one thing that especially stood out from his act was his rendition of Mary Mary’s “Shackles.”
