New Orleans, LA – World renowned Gospel singer and songwriter, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. will be a special musical guest performing a duet with superstar Aretha Franklin at the “VH1 Divas Live: The One and Only Aretha Franklin – A Benefit Concert for VH1 Save the Music Foundation,” the fourth annual star-studded “VH1 Divas” concert, airing live on Tuesday, April 10 at 9:00 P.M (ET/PT).

Bishop Morton, pastor of the 20, 000 member Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, received a personal phone call from the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin inviting him to perform a duet at the upcoming VH1 benefits concert.

The song that the artists will be performing is the Gospel version of the hymn entitled, Precious Memories written by Roberta Martin and Georgia Jones. The original version of the hymn was written by J.B.F. Wright. Aretha Franklin and legendary gospel recording artist James Cleveland recorded the song in the 1970's and the song is currently featured on the Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits CD.

Bishop Morton said, “It is an honor to once again perform with one of the biggest female artists in music history…she is indeed the “Queen of Soul” and a musical legend in her own right. With Gospel music crossing over and greatly impacting today's secular music world, we will definitely see more of this”.

Bishop Morton and Ms. Franklin are associated through family ties tracing back to the city of Detroit. Both of their fathers were well known pastors in the 1950's. In fact, Bishop C.L. Morton (father of Bishop Paul Morton) and Bishop C. L. Franklin (father of Aretha Franklin) hosted the two most popular ministry radio shows back to back in the Detroit area.

Bishop Morton is known around the world for his singing and song writing abilities. In 1999, Bishop Morton released his nationally recognized solo CD (album) entitled “Crescent City Fire.”

Included among his other musical accomplishments are five albums recorded with the Greater St. Stephen Mass Choir and two recordings with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Mass Choir. He was also featured on the all-star recording of the hit song, “Something Inside So Strong” at tribute to Rosa Parks.
