Israel and New Breed Garners First Grammy Nomination

MOBILE, Ala. - Integrity Gospel artist Israel and New Breed was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the category of "Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album" for the acclaimed CD Live From Another Level. This is the first nomination for the Houston-based Israel and New Breed which shares the “Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album” nomination with Somethin' 'Bout Love by Fred Hammond; He-Motions by Bishop T. D. Jakes; Nothing Without You by Smokie Norful and Out The Box by Tonéx & The Peculiar People.

The 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be handed out in Los Angeles at Staples Center on Sunday, February 13, 2005 and broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

The nomination is just the latest in the growing list of accolades for Israel and New Breed. In October, the praise and worship artist Israel and New Breed received two nominations for the Stellar Awards for “Artist of the Year” and “CD of the Year” for Live From Another Level. In addition, lead singer/songwriter and New Breed co-founder Israel Houghton received two additional nominations for “Male Vocalist of the Year” and a shared nomination for “Producer of the Year” with fellow New Breed founder Aaron W. Lindsey. Israel and New Breed has also been confirmed for an opening performance on the 2005 Stellar Awards which will be held Saturday, January 15th 2005 in Houston and televised by syndication at a later date.

Last week, Worship Leader Magazine announced that Israel and New Breed was among the 2004 nominees for its 4th Annual Praise Awards which are designed to “acknowledge and affirm the excellence of the artists who have devoted their lives and talents to creating innovative ways for the Church to experience God.” Israel and New Breed was nominated for “Best Urban or Gospel Recording” for Live From Another Level. Winners for Worship Leader’s Praise Awards will be selected by popular vote beginning December 1st and announced in the March/April issue of the magazine.

With the release of Live From Another Level, Israel and New Breed earned the number one status on Billboard’s Gospel Chart after its first week of sales, and number three on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. This best-selling double album continues to gather momentum with critical acclaim from mainstream and gospel press and two Gospel radio hits (“Again I Say Rejoice” and “Another Breakthrough”). The group’s long-awaited Live From Another Level video released to Christian and general market retailers last month. Israel and New Breed just wrapped up a 20-city “Another Level” fall tour with special guest Martha Munizzi, and performed for an estimated 40,000 at a recent Madison Square Garden event as a featured guest of “An Evening with Joel Osteen.”
