Ex-Professional Baseball Player Kent Bottenfield Signs To Tag Distribution
Nashville , Tenn. - Former professional baseball player Kent Bottenfield has signed a distribution deal with TAG Distribution and will unveil his debut album Take Me Back (IBB Records) nationwide on April 5th, 2005.
Bottenfield spent 10 years in Major League Baseball and played for the likes of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, and Philadelphia Phillies. As a highly sought after pitcher, he earned a spot on the 1999 All-Star team, a $4million contract and was praised by Hall of Fame legend Jim Palmer. It was a shoulder injury in 2001 and the ensuing surgery that lead to Bottenfield's retirement from the game.
Soon after leaving the sports arena, the doors were opened for Bottenfield to become involved in his life-long passion of music, first by doing some songwriting and eventually buying into a recording studio and producing indie artists. It was through that process that he felt lead to do a project of his own.
“I had the inkling to make a record, but I wanted to be careful and get all the first hand training and experience before giving it a shot,” Bottenfield says. “People are always a little leery when someone who's known for having a certain spot in the public eye switches ideas and comes out with a record. But once they see beyond that and give it a listen, hopefully they'll find it to be a legit project.”
Take Me Back features 13 songs all penned by Bottenfield with the exception of “Amazing Grace” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. Renowned producer Michael Omartian (Rod Stewart, Christopher Cross, Donna Summers) produced four of the cuts, including the title song “Take Me Back”.
Bottenfield, who tours nationwide as both a speaker and musician, currently resides in Brownsburg , Indiana with his wife Pamela and three kids Emma, Eli, and Lucy. For additional information on Kent Bottenfield, go to www.KBOTT.com .
