Washington, D.C. – Last year, the Washington, D.C. Area was the site of the prestigious 2006 Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference. The brainchild of Gospel Today Magazine publisher Dr. Teresa Hairston, the conference, which drew thousands, was a power-packed 3 days of education, revelation and celebration. D.C. has once again been chosen as the location of the 2007 Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference with the core of the event being held at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center February 28, - March 3, 2007. Co-sponsored by Heaven 1580 (WPGC-AM), the conference’s theme for 2007 will be “Power, Passion & Purpose”.

On Monday, November 20, 2006, gospel icon Pastor Hezekiah Walker and Hairston, hosted a press conference at New Samaritan Baptist Church (1100 Florida Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002) to talk about the conference and to petition area ministers and churches to become involved in this pivotal event. The press conference was followed by a symposium, “Is Gospel Music Leaving The Church?” moderated by Walker.

With the Nation’s Capitol home to hundreds of influential churches, Cheryl Jackson, Program Director of D.C.’s 2006 Stellar Award winning Heaven 1580, believes this is a great opportunity for churches to take an active role in the upcoming event. “The Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference is one of the best conferences in the industry today,” says Jackson. “This conference is where everybody puts down their celebrity mantle to really become transparent enough to perfect various aspects of music ministry in the church.” It’s also a place where the mission of the Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference, to preserve the heritage and perpetuate the legacy of gospel music, is realized.

Quickly becoming the industry’s premiere workshop, the Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference is a must-attend event. Pastors and Ministers of Music are encouraged to attend.
