Los Angeles - Founder and Senior Pastor of Universal City Church in Charlotte, NC Pastor Michael A. Stevens is not one to "go along to get along." In his controversial new book "Straight Up" - The Church's Official Response To The Epidemic Of Down-Low Living, Stevens puts homosexuals in the church and black men on the "down-low" on full blast for their attempts to mainstream their behavior in the African-American community.

"If the church is going to lead African-American men away from the deception and disease of down-low homosexuality, it will have to be led by strong, masculine men who have the confidence, conviction, and courage of Jesus to confront sin," Stevens says.

In "Straight Up" Stevens pulls no punches in his withering attack on effeminate and homosexual bishops and reverands in the black church as well as the whole down-low phenomenon and it's impact in the African-American community.

"Straight Up" was originally conceived as a refutation of J. L. King's book On the Down Low, but once Stevens began his research he realized the problem was bigger than that book. With a theological perspective and biblical scholarship, Stevens methodically confronts these issues head on while providing advice and guidance along the way including a chapter devoted to how black women must handle the down-low epidemic in order to protect themselves.

Pastor Stevens enters the New Year as a highly sought after interview subject and public speaker.
