Daddy’s Little Girls Film Review

Strong attraction, however, wins out – Monte and Julia begin a relationship and there is always something tearing at them being a couple. Plunk down your dollars in order to get all the background details and the final outcome; you’ll be glad you did.

Idris Elba has a quiet, layered intensity that only adds to the overall quality of Daddy’s Little Girls. Gabrielle Union is always a joy to watch not only because she has such elegance but because the sistah can act. Their engaging on-screen chemistry makes you pull for their unlikely hook-up in spite of the inherent challenges they may face. Aaaah Black love on the big screen – a joy to see!! By the way, the little McClain ladies steal most of the scenes in which they are featured.

Also look for Malinda Williams and a brief, straight-to-the-heart-of-the-matter sermonette by Bishop Eddie Long. The film’s great soundtrack features performances by Anthony Hamilton, Brian McKnight, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick, Cissy Houston and many more.

Daddy’s Little Girls offers one more viewpoint about the complex African American journey. And I, for one, am really glad that Tyler Perry felt the need to share yet another rich slice of our story with the world.
