The Positive Pop Song Contest

The Positive Pop Song Contest takes songs of all musical styles that encourage, inspire, educate, or simply entertain. Grand prize winner will receive a full production package of one song, one year membership to TAXI, scholarship to GMA Academy, Fender acoustic guitar and more [$5,000+ total value]. Deadline: 7-31-05. Entry fee: $25. All entries get industry pro critiques. Smaller contest, better odds.

The Positive Pop Song Contest, sponsored by the International Library of Poetry, is by far the largest and most comprehensive poetry site on the Internet. will award 1175 prizes totaling $58,000.00 to amateur poets in the coming months. Anyone can enter the competition simply by submitting an original poem, 20 lines or fewer with a maximum of 60 characters per line, on any subject, in any style. If your poem makes it to the semi-finals, you will receive an acknowledgment by regular mail within seven weeks.


GMA Academy

Launched in 1995, the GMA Academy is a regional talent competition and seminar designed to educate, encourage, and support the growth and development of Christian artists and songwriters. The program features a talent competition for unsigned artists and songwriters, culminating with the National Finals held at Music in the Rockies, located in Estes Park, Colo. Regional competitors and winners have gone on to launch successful and rewarding ministries and careers, and include artists like Jars of Clay and Nichole Nordeman.

GMA Music in the Rockies (formerly “Seminar in the Rockies”) has a long-standing history as the premier competition, gathering, and educational event in Christian music. Since 1974, aspiring artists and songwriters have traveled from all over the world to perform, compete and hone their skills under the guidance of seasoned industry professionals and peers. Artists such as Stacie Orrico, Rachael Lampa, Babbie Mason, Point of Grace and Mark Lowry all began their careers at Music in the Rockies. Located in the beautiful city of Estes Park, Colo., Music in the Rockies is a must-attend event for any aspiring or indie artist, songwriter, worship Leader and musician, and for producers, publishers, and A&R professionals. Families also take advantage of this resort destination through diverse activities and the acclaimed Music in the Rockies Concert Series.

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is open to both amateur and professional songwriters. Songs may be entered in any of the following twelve categories: Rock, Country, Jazz, Pop, World, Rhythm & Blues, Gospel/Inspirational, Hip-Hop Latin, Electronic, Folk, Special category of Children´s music. Beyond the substantial cash prizes, some winners will receive EMI Music Publishing Contracts and Yamaha Project Studio Equipment. One entry will be named "Song of the Year" and that winner will receive an additional $20,000 in cash courtesy of Maxell. Overall, 120 winners will split over $200,000 in cash and prizes.
