BBC Fame Academy Judges David & Carrie Grant Co-Hosts the Gospel Music’s equivalent to the glamorous MOBO Awards is set to take place the Bethel Convention Centre, Birmingham, on Saturday 29th October. BBC Fame Academyjudges - David and Carrie Grantwill be co-hosting this years glittering awards evening inaugurated to celebrate the cream of gospel talentswithin theUK. World famous singer Marc Staggerswill be jetting in from America as a special guest to join a line-up of artists that includes: The bandwithnoname, Adelaide McKenzie,Jeharna South, Dominic Smith,Julie Hall, Blessed Voices, Freddie Kofi and Kingdom Choir. VIP guests invitedon the night includes: The Mayor and Mayoress of Wolverhampton, Raymond & Co, Ruby Turner, Natasha Carlish - Bafta Award Winner, Cie, Nu Life, and many, many more. Last year more than 1,000 people flocked to the event and this year will certainly be no exception to the rule, with over 40 nominees from across the country being in line to receive an award at this glitzy affair. As stated by organiser - Janet Smith - “The GEM Awards being the first of its kind in the UK, is truly a unique and exclusive eventin offering gospel artists a platform for their voices to be heard nationwide. Since its inauguration the GEM Awards has significantly helped to generate a demand for gospel music, by encouraging gospel artists to submit new entrieson a yearly basis. This in turn hasseen a considerable increase in the amount of new releasesfrom gospel artists within the UK – which is a positive development thatwe will continue to embrace" This year the award ceremony is beingsponsored and supported by Moneygram, Barclays, Premier Radio,Str8up, Gospel Revue and the BBC through its Local Radio Stations and BBC Midlands Today. GEM Awards 2005 is a real feel good factor event, because it celebrates all that's great about today's gospeltalent. It brings out the glamour, vip’s and celebs from the British music industry.
