Joshua’s Troop Signs With New Haven Records

“Project Youth” To Release August 24

Nashville, TN - New Haven Records announces the signing of Joshua’s Troop, one of Gospel music’s premiere youth groups. Originating from Chicago, IL, Joshua’s Troop consists of more than 30 young people and a band that ranges in age from 16 to 22 years old. Blending urban and hip hop tracks with contemporary gospel, Joshua’s Troop proves to be a vocally experienced group beyond their youthful years.

“Currently in Gospel music, there seems to be a void of youth choirs creating music for youth,” stated Ken Harding, President of New Haven Records. “As soon as I heard Joshua’s Troop, I knew they could fill that void. The songs are great, and they are vocally mature. Combined with their energetic live show, Joshua’s Troop has the ability to connect with people of all ages.”

Their new record, “Project Youth,” is produced by Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award nominee Percy Gray, Jr., (New Direction, Chicago Mass Choir) and Jarel Gray (New Direction) of the respected GrayBoyz Productions.

“I thank God for Ken Harding and the New Haven family for believing in the vision,” said Percy Gray, who is also one of the directors of the group. “New Haven’s willingness to give Joshua’s Troop an opportunity allow these young people to minister to other young people,”

Joshua's Troop is a result of a vision of Pastor Clay Evans, the founder of the African American Religious Connection (AARC) and Pastor Charles Jenkins, successor to Pastor Evans at Fellowship Methodist Baptist Church of Chicago. Their desire was to create a youth and young adult division of the AARC convention headed up by Pastor Jenkins that focused primarily on those attending between 12-30 years old. Joshua’s Troop began as the music ministry of this division.

Throughout their five year history, Joshua’s Troop has paved the way to make a major impact with “Project Youth”. Their debut self-titled release got the attention of radio with the hits “God Is Not Dead” and “I Found A Savior.” Additionally, it landed them national television exposure on shows such as “I Like Gospel” on the INSP Network.

Leading up to the release of “Project Youth,” the first radio singles for Joshua’s Troop will be shipping in July. Joshua’s Troop will also be appearing at Gospel Music Workshop of America before the Gospel Announcer’s Guild and at the GMWA Youth Forum.
