Gospo Centric/Zomba Records To Release New Album By Dancehall
Reggae Artist - Papa San

New Album Titled - Real & Personal - Releases March 14, 2006

New York, NY - Gospo Centric Records / Zomba is preparing for the release of the new album by Dancehall Gospel Reggae artist Papa San. The album titled Real & Personal will be hitting stores nationwide on March 14th.

On this new project, Papa San continues to present faith-based themes in his fresh sonically entertaining style of Dancehall Reggae. In the early-80’s, putting a rap and highly rhythmic spin on the traditional melodic reggae groove of masters like Bob Marley and others, Papa San was instrumental in forging what is known today as Dancehall music. Papa San states, “Dancehall is really just a branch off of the reggae tree. It was first called toasting when DJs began to put lyrics more to rhythms than melodies.” Papa San punctuated his celebrated career in the mainstream with Billboard charting projects that broke records for his musical genre. As a Gospel artist he has collected 12 Marlin Awards (Caribbean equivalent to Dove Awards and Stellar Awards) and a Stellar Award for “God and i” (2004). One of the singles from “God and I,” 'Step Pon Di Enemy' was video of the month on TBN and earned him Artist of the Year in New York, England and the Caribbean. His first album “Victory” entered number 5 on the Reggae Billboard Chart and “God and I” made it into the top 10.

The debut single, 'More Life,' is currently impacting Gospel and Urban radio as well as Reggae mix shows. Manager Daniel Herd (S.L.A.M! Events, Artists & Speakers, Inc.) firmly believes, “Given the universal acceptance of San’s mainstream contemporaries (Sean Paul, Shaggy and Busta Rhymes), 'More Life' shows promise of crossing over into the Contemporary Christian, Hip Hop and World Music markets.” “All one needs to do is look at the career of the late Bob Marley and the global success of Reggae Music. Bob sang about the struggle and faith in Jah…Papa San sings about the solution to the struggle and the power of the Gospel!” Herd further asserts 'More Life' has already caused promoters to invite Papa San to large festivals in Jamaica and the greater West Indies, China, the UK, Germany and Canada, I just hope Sony/BMG can keep up with International distribution.”
