Los Angeles - After almost a decade of creating innovative platforms for Christian Hip Hop artists, Cross Movement Records is expanding its reach into other genres with the release of Contemporary/Urban artist Michelle Bonilla of RockSoul Entertainment. Her debut project Phenomenal was released nationwide on May 16 through an exclusive deal between RockSoul Entertainment and Cross Movement Records’ newly-formed imprint Issachar Recordings, which will be distributed by Provident-Integrity Distribution in the Christian market and Sony-BMG in the mainstream market.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to co-labor with Michelle Bonilla and RockSoul,” says John Wells, President and CEO of Cross Movement Records and Issachar Recordings. “Michelle is a special talent with a passion for the Lord that clearly resonates through her music. Her sound is a Contemporary/Urban mix with a Latin flavor that brings a novel voice to the varied landscape of Christian music. As the first album on Issachar Recordings, she sets the tone for future quality releases on the new label.”

“RockSoul Entertainment and Cross Movement Records have a long history of working together on the production side of things, so it was a blessing that John Wells and I could take it to the next level and collaborate on Michelle Bonilla’s album,” states Lee Jerkins, CEO of RockSoul Entertainment. “What’s great is that we share a common goal to see Christ lifted up amongst a generation of young people.”

Produced by RockSoul’s Lee Jerkins and David Hackley Jr., Phenomenal showcases Bonilla’s talent and versatility through urban rhythms and pop melodies. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Michelle Bonilla’s musical heritage includes her father, a Latin jazz guitarist, while she herself studied jazz at the City University of New York. Bonilla wrote or co-wrote 11 songs on Phenomenal which also includes a cover of Michael Card’s classic “El Shaddai.”

“It's an honor to work with the powerful production team of RockSoul and to collaborate with a groundbreaking Hip Hop record company like Cross Movement Records,” says Bonilla. “Working with both teams has been inspiring and has challenged my art form to be the best that it can be for the glory of Jesus Christ.”

Founded in 1997, Cross Movement Records has maintained its mission to “to put on full display what the combination of music, artistry and culture can look and sound like when surrendered to the Kingdom agenda of Jesus Christ.” Cross Movement Records is based in Sicklerville, New Jersey and distributed by Provident-Integrity Distribution/Sony-BMG.
