Fred Hammond - Somethin’ ‘Bout Love
Verity Records
The wait is over. For two years, fans all over the world have been waiting for Fred Hammond’s newest release and it’s finally here. This veteran of the gospel music scene has returned with his tenth project release (yes, tenth… since Commissioned, he’s released ten albums). He's back and he's back with a message… it’s all about love. He talks about our love for God and God’s love for us. The theme is clear with Somethin' 'Bout Love. Fred is making sure that everyone takes heed and pays attention to this important message. It is imperative to the Christian faith and he does it with nineteen new tracks.
Celebrate (He Lives) , the first single release from this CD, starts off this love fest. The fact that God sent His son to die for mankind shows us the magnitude of the love God has for His children. Fred urges the listener to show our love for Christ by celebrating because Christ lives. Many people first heard this song on the BET Celebration of Gospel special earlier this year and people knew Fred was back with a vengeance. The song is direct, hard hitting, simple and easy to catch on to. This song will be an Easter classic for years to come.
Fred expresses his love for the Lord with Praise Belongs to You. He declares that the Lord is the way, the truth and the life and that all praise belongs to Him. You will have this track on repeat as you get your praise on during the day. Lord We Need Your Love features Pastor Marvin L. Winans (Senior Pastor of Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan) and Brian McKnight. It’s a laid-back groove that simply expresses the need that man has for the love of God. This is collaboration of the three men is produced by Fred Hammond and Warryn Campbell (producer for Mary Mary). Another track produced by Fred and Warryn is Loved on Me. This track features Marvin Winans of the junior persuasion (who also co-wrote this song along with Warryn and Fred). This contemporary jam will definitely have you bouncing. The guest appearances don’t stop with the Winans and Brian McKnight. Musiq lends his voice to the lead on Love’s In Need. This remake of the Stevie Wonder original features Hezekiah Walker’s Love Fellowship Choir on background vocals (see, the love theme doesn’t only apply to the songs, but the bgv’s as well!).
