R. Kelly - U Saved Me
R. Kelly is one of the musical geniuses of our time and this project is certainly groundbreaking. Tinged with dark melodies and filled with only soothing ballads, the project beckons for more uplifting, upbeat and joyous hand-clapping tunes -- a necessary element to a great gospel project. That said, this is still a powerful collection of songs and will definitely plant a seed in those who may never step into a church or turn to gospel radio. Rarely does an artist known strictly for mainstream music step out and do an entire CD with gospel songs; he should be commended. Although some may question Kelly’s motives for making a gospel project, it’s quite clear that the focus of this project is God.
