Christopher Gray's - Heaven
By Cherisse Stephens
Christopher L. Gray is back and HE IS ON A MISSION FOREAL!
If you’re like really new to the music industry, then you won’t remember the contributions that Christopher L. Gray has made to the gospel music industry. But if you’re a veteran like me, then you understand the magnitude of this dynamic writer, composer and artist. Christopher has written music for the late Rev. James Cleveland, (GMWA), Pastor John P. Kee, Edwin & Walter Hawkins and many others. His latest offering is Heaven and features his talented group of singers Favoured. Please don’t sleep on this CD. It will bless your socks off! Here’s a review of what’s about to explode in your CD player…
Okay, here we go! I honestly had forgotten how good he could sing. Praise Him; the first cut on this awesome CD is HOT! Favoured can really sing ya’ll. You know sometimes the artist is great and the background is just okay. But that’s not the case here. Favoured has to be a handpicked group of singers by Christopher. Jesus is a worship piece that choirs all over the world can sing. Yes, it’s simple and powerful at the same time. Christopher is singing to the Lord and you can feel the anointing as he ministers to Jesus. The song simply says: “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, We adore you, we adore you, we adore you. Oh, oh we praise you, we praise you, “We love you Jesus, We love you, We praise you.” I’m so glad that Christopher and Favoured decided to reprise on this cut because it needed to be!
Alright, what’s next? Storm Is Over will minister to anyone going through a storm. To all the Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita survivors and conquerors (because you are more than conquerors) this song will minister to you foreal. Powerful is the word I have to use for this song. Christopher lets his singers show their vocal ability and they do a great job. This song is mid‑tempo with smooth praise.
Heaven is the title cut and guess what? It should be. Heaven is radio-friendly, church-friendly, praise and worship-friendly and driving in your car-friendly. (I know I’m cuttin’ up now) I’ve got to take time and talk about this band of life that Christopher has with him on this CD. We’ve got Christopher on all instruments along with Cedric Thompson, Jonathan Dubose Jr., Christopher L. Gray II on percussions and Matthew Kelly. Off the meter is what they are. C’mon groove with us!
