Meka King might be one of the many up-and-coming artists on today’s Christian music scene, but with her debut Count It All Joy, she is poised to become one of the brightest stars to hit the genre. The former background singer for some of Contemporary Christian music’s finest (Martha Munizzi, Ron Kenoly, William McDowell), Meka King delivers a stirring collection of songs with “Count It All Joy”.

King steps out of the musical gate with the catchy urban rhythms of Won’t Be Like That. It’s an uplifting song filled with words of assurance from God’s perspective. With its funky groove, the track is a danceable one. The title tune finds this artist lifting her beautiful soprano voice to one of most heartening passages in scripture. Referencing James 1:2, Count It All Joy mixes elements of soul and pop and delivers an enriching musical blend. At the end of the song, King ad libs, making the song even more of a testimonial.

For the person who wonders if God will come through in troublesome times, Meka assures us, that indeed, He will, with He’s Right On Time. Reminding the listener of God’s impeccable character traits and His overwhelming concern for His children, she sings soothingly on this mellow cut.

How I Love You finds the artist returning the favor on a calming track. With a refreshing transparency, Meka relates the depth of her love for the Lord. The song even starts out saying, “I sat down and tried to write all the things in my heart, but I couldn’t find the words to express just how I feel so I close my eyes and I lift my hands as the tears begin to fall”. Those who couldn’t get enough of this powerful track will be pleased with the inclusion of an additional acoustic version.

Beautiful orchestral strings open the worshipful Sanctuary. The popular church tune is done with such reverence and sincerity. Offering listeners another opportunity to worship, King performs a stunning medley of I Worship You, There Is None Like You and You Are. Vocally, King has a crystal clear sound, but what certainly catches the ear is the warmth and maturity that radiates from this artist. All of these elements are evident on Worship Medley.
