Stellar Awards Hits 2007
Reviewed By Cherisse Stephens
This year’s Stellar Awards in Nashville was an awesome night of worship and praise as some of gospel’s finest artists took center stage. If you didn’t make it; it’s o.k. because Light Records along with Don Jackson, Erma Gray-Davis, Phillip White and James D. Robinson, Jr. have put together a wonderful presentation of some this year’s most notable artists. It’s a musical offering that will have you raisin’ and praisin’.
This CD has something for everybody. It begins with the one and only Israel & New Breed singing Turn It Around. This is the year God is turning things around and causing the windows of heaven to open. Just when you think you’ve got it all together, Bishop G.E. Patterson (my Bishop) belts out the old Pentecostal number; Look Where He Brought Me From. You’re sure to have church on this tune as the saints of old remind us of the goodness of Jesus!
Don’t you love The Williams Brothers? They can just sing; and they can sing anything ya’ll. Up Where We Belong is a tune of yesterday with today’s feel. This project has something old, something new, something borrowed and something just for you! And Lisa McClendon brings it on with the something old, something new thang! On Just Another Day she gives us that neo-soul sound that has all the youngen’s smiling.
Can somebody say Shirley, Shirley, Shirley! The anointed and energetic Shirley Caesar takes you straight to church; no detours. Everything Is Going To Be Alright is that traditional song with a little spin on it. Remember little Bryan Wilson; well, he’s all grown up with a new sound that’s fresh and wonderful. And even though Bryan is a young man; he reminds us in song that God is Still My Father . You’ll like this one for sure.
Youthful Praise puts it down with He Reigns . Come on choirs, you’ve got something new to sing now! Okay, ya’ll, it’s my girl, Prophetess Juanita Bynum. I know, this is too much right? I Don’t Mind Waiting is a song to the Lord. Bynum has the ability to bring you right where she is!
