By Cherisse Stephens Maurette Brown Clark makes dreams come true with her new CD entitled Have you ever wished for a CD that had more than two great songs on it? Well, you don’t have to wish any longer. The princess of praise & worship, Maurette Brown Clark delivers on The Dream. This project is wonderful from start to finish! Maurette does what she’s been called to do; and that is capturing your attention and taking you into the very throne room of God. Here are some of the projects highlights! The CD starts out with the band under the helm of producer Asaph Alexander Ward puttin it down on the first power packed track entitled One God. This song was written by Darien Dennis and it’s one of those songs that gets an A+. I love the way Maurette ministers on this tune. I officially name this the praise and worship song of the year! Praise teams from everywhere can sing this one and take you into the very presence of God. Has God Done Anything For You is a great high energy number penned by Maurette. The vocal arrangements are incredible. This is a great get up and exercise song! C’mon, all dance teams; let’s get the saints pumped as we praise together on this one. Maurette asks the questions: did God wake you up this morning, start you on your way; has God done anything for you? Then you need to clap your hands and sing hallelujah! This is a fun praise number; waving of the hands is required! I’ll Praise Him has that 80s meets 2007 sound! You had to be around in the eighties to appreciate what I’m saying. (That’s when the choirs really sang ya’ll). This is a simple song of adoration to our Lord. Maurette has a way of singing horizontally to God and including the audience at the same time. The song says my mind focused, hands lifted, heart singing, mouth bringing forth your praise! I don’t know about you, but I’ll praise him. I Have Decided To Follow Jesus is the traditional stuff that we grew up on! But Maurette doesn’t quite sing it like your Grandma did back in the day. She puts a fresh spin on this tune without losing its flavor. The instrumentation is pure and blends effortlessly with the sweet sounds of Maurette. Just when you think it’s over, the song takes you to another level. Sing Maurette… My Heart Has Been Restored is written by Stellar Award artist and producer; Jonathan Nelson. I’ve discovered that Jonathan writes straight from the heart and it’s felt in everything he puts the pen to. And, of course, Maurette delivers as only she can on this one as well. The lyrics are so pure and sincere. Has faith grabbed a hold of you and changed your unbelief? If you answered yes, then your heart has been restored. I Am What God Says I Am, written by Tony Small is sung oh so softly and sweetly by Maurette’s daughter, Jada Simone Clark. I would love to hear children’s choirs from all denominations sing this. Maurette is doing what the scripture says; “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart”. Jada is definitely not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! And this baby even modulates with power (and in the right key too) a couple of times. Sounds like a repeat in history of a great mother/daughter team… Karen/Ki Ki, Maurette/Jada! Sounds like a plan to me (lol). Sovereign God is written by Anthony Brown. This song puts it all in perspective when it comes to knowing whom we serve. This is one of those tunes that takes you right into the presence of God. Because God is Sovereign; he is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or think! So take all your burdens and lay them at his feet and watch him meet the need. There is nobody like Jesus! I must mention that the background vocals throughout are incredible. Maurette has some of the best singers in the world singing on this project! He is Sovereign…sing unto the Lord. We Worship You written by Donnie McClurkin is an up tempo, hand clappin song with high energy! You don’t have to search hard to find great praise songs on this project. I love that this music will minister to anyone who listens. Maurette brings you into a place of celebration on this track. The Dream is a testimony of Maurette’s journey and how God preserved her for this time. She knew that God had a purpose for her life and she asked Him in 1990; “What is the plan for my life?” God answered very clearly – giving her own music ministry. To all those aspiring to be recording artists, buy this CD just to hear this testimony. The Dream is pure and wonderful. Please, just get the tissue ready on this piece. Jesus is the reason why we sing ya’ll. The Dream is what Maurette is all about. I’m not going to give away all the treasures on this CD. The Dream is everything you need to move to new places in God.
