The stirring worshipful energy on Kevin LeVar's debut project, Let's Come Together, produces a multitude of positive emotion for listeners. The album is filled with songs thanking God for blessings, while addressing various themes LeVar has been through in his own life. On Let's Come Together, listeners are encouraged to embrace their faith by recognizing God in their lives. On the title song, 'Let's Come Together,' the singer-songwriter is calling believers in the body of Christ to reach out to each other by letting the walls fall down: 'Let the walls fall down that divide your body/In the name of Jesus/Let them fall down,' proclaims the song. “The body of Christ needs to galvanize to reach the world and that means really closing the gap between races within the body of Christ,” says LeVar. “It’s my prayer that Let’s Come Together can create harmony on all levels, especially when you think of harmony in musical contexts and the fact it takes two different notes to have harmony. If it’s just the same note over and over, that’s only an octave, but when it’s two, three or four different voices, it’s a beautiful harmony and that’s how I liken it to when we all get to heaven, regardless of what we might look like on earth.” The soft, classical piano ballad, 'A Heart That Forgives,' encourages Christians to live like Christ by expressing love towards fellowmen. The song is a pledge to God, promising to love, walk, and talk like Christ. The heart that forgives, the song expresses, is one that is free. LeVar's desire is heartfelt, drawing the listener to sincerely desire a closer walk with God. Throughout this diverse album that shuffles between congregational choruses, stirring worshipful lyrics, Latin rhythms, and Caribbean-flavored tunes, LeVar reaches out to every member of the church: Tracks such as 'What-Cha Know About Jesus,' is a youth-friendly song that challenges listeners to reflect on their relationship with God. And the Reggae-flavored track, 'Heaven Have Your Way,' invites all to leave their inhibitions at the door and lose themselves in praising God. Fans have patiently waited for LeVar's diverse musical project. LeVar is not a newcomer to the gospel scene. He appeared on numerous prominent albums that have gone all over the world from Hawaii to Germany. He has also participated in artist showcases alongside gospel recording artists Kurt Carr, Beverly Crawford and Mary Mary. The moving presence of God on the album is evidence that LeVar is in his rightful, God-given place. The combined elements of vocal delivery, emotional lyrics, and ardent musical arrangements on the track, 'Atmosphere of Faith' will encourage listeners to hit the replay button several times. On 'Just Like You,' the theme of desiring a closer relationship with God is expressed in the words that emphasize 'I want to be/Just like you/I want to live/Just like you/Just like you/Whatever you got to do in me/I'm willing, so willing/I surrender/ I give up, Lord.' Listeners can expect to walk away with a spiritual rejuvenation after listening to the 16 tracks on Let's Come Together. LeVar's sincerity and musical delivery on the album is a blessing in a world racked with negativity. For more information on Kevin LeVar, visit www.myspace.com/kevinlevar |
