Kierra Sheard has a lot to say and on her newest release, ‘Bold Right Life ,' the Grammy-nominated singer and Dove and Stellar Award winner shares a lot. The ne w album marks the third project from the 22-year old, who says the words, ‘Bold Right Life,' came from her youth organization in Detroit. According to Kierra, the album's message is about having a relationship with Christ and being bold about it. The 11 track project features a number of great-hits in the making, as Kierra, who dropped her childhood name, Kiki, demonstrates her maturity to listeners on the album. ‘Bold Right Life' opens with the excitable, Won't Hold Back. The upbeat, high tempo song speaks of needing to praise God even when things do not go right. Kierra's grown-up style, and contemporary sound is distinctive and she does not disappoint on ‘Bold Right Life' - an invigorating project that makes a bold and right statement. Kierra demonstrates how much God has done in her life. She has lost an astonishing 86 pounds, currently attends Detroit's Wayne University, and feels anointed to share the message of maintaining a deep relationship with Christ. This new album is Kierra's attempt to speak and inspire young people to live for God. The second track does not deviate from Kierra's signature vocals, intricately woven lyrics, and hip musical arrangement. The song, Wave Your Banner, is a call to listeners - that they should not be ashamed of standing up for what they believe. Kierra's college experience comes into play in this song, as she shares what it is like to live for Christ in a world often focused on non-spiritual matters. Other tracks including the mid-tempo track, Love Like Crazy, explores needing to invest emotionally in a Christ-centered relationship and the R&B flavored One, is a powerful message of having only one life to live for Christ. The song emphasizes that life is short and we ought to make the most of living boldly. According to Colossians 3: 1-6: “We are dead to the things of this world … Boldly living right getting ready for life.” This scripture also served as the inspiration for the album. Kierra takes praise and worship to a refreshingly new level on the track, Praise Him Now. The song showcases a combination of talent and sincerity. Sharing a testimony of experiencing hardships and trials, the lyrics focus on worship: “Praise Him now/Praise Him again/ Praise Him every time you get a chance/He's the source of your favor/And we've got to praise Him even more…” Another funky, hip praise track includes the pop-friendly, If It Had Not Been. The song praises God for what He has done and reflects on what life would have been like if God had not given His son to die. Kierra describes the new album in these words: “This is THE album for me. I have never been so excited about a project! This album is finally everything I wanted it to be and I believe that God is truly using me through this project in a way he's never used me before.” Bold Right Life is a filled with songs, many of which Kierra wrote herself, with the goal of uplifting in challenging times.
