Donnie McClurkin - We All Are One: Live in Detroit
The theme of love is an intense staple throughout the album and expressed in a variety of forms. While the hand-clapping, church friendly track, ‘The Great I Am,’ exhalts God in a worshipful, congregational format, the emotional track, ‘Home Someday’ dreams of joining loved ones in heaven someday. The moving ballad stands out especially, since Donnie recently lost his sibling, Olivia Darnel McClurkin, on November 4, 2008. Listeners will find it difficult not to sing along with Donnie’s soaring tenor, as he proclaims: “When we get through we’re gonna be home someday/Many a loved one there, who’s gone on before/City so bright and fare with peace forever more…”
Donnie McClurkin is one of those gospel recording artists that will always leave listeners wanting to hear more of his music. His pure love for the gospel, talent and commitment to spreading God’s word through his message and ministry (he serves as Associate Pastor at Perfecting Church), has prompted a flow of endless blessings in his life. Returning from a five year hiatus, Donnie has proven he is still called to sing and minister.
