Michael & Regina Winans - Always Remember

MCG Records has a new release from the husband and wife team of Michael & Regina Winans.

Michael Winans, a member of the gospel group, the Winans and his wife Regina, a former backup singer for inlaws Bebe & Cece Winans and former business manager for the Winans, have put out their first project and yes, it’s a winner.

It seems like whether you were born with the last name “Winans” or married someone with the last name “Winans”, it’s a prerequisite that you must be able to sing. You’ll find no different on “Always Remember”. With help from Michael’s siblings, Daniel, Carvin, and Debbie as well as their son, Michael Jr., this CD doesn’t miss a beat.

“Always Remember” is a strong CD with some great songs. It’s a rarity to see a husband and wife duo compliment each other as Regina and Michael do on “Always Remember”.

As songwriters and co-producers on this R&B sounding CD, they shine on the majority of the cuts.

The title song is a smooth relaxing groove with the Winans contemporary flair. With the memorable sound of the Winans background vocals, this song is a reminder to God to remember His children when He comes back.

“Heavenbound” is a funky upbeat song that will have your shoulders shaking. “I Dedicate My Love” is a beautiful ballad destined to be sung at numerous Christian weddings. Hearing it sung by a couple with over 20 years of marriage really comes across as a testament of love.

“I’ve Got You” takes us back to church, but with a contemporary feel as well. We all know that man can fail us, but Michael and Regina remind us that there is only one that will never fail us and His name is Jesus. “My Heart” is a slow and passionate worship song speaking to God from the view of a grateful Christian.

“It Feels So Good To Know” really shows off the way that Michael & Regina’s voices complete each others. “No Way”, one of the strongest tracks on this CD, really showcases Regina’s beautiful soprano voice. This song will definitely take you back to memories of “Return” from the Winans.

Michael’s influence is strong on this song and throughout the entire project. Their rendition of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” brings this classic into the millennium without taking any of the class from the original.

“Love Will Be” is another great track that deals with the realities of family life from a godly perspective. “Together (We Will Be)” is a head-bobbing jam which talks about living with God forever.

There are some great choir vocals on this song as well too. Michael and Regina even include the mainstream classic by John Lennon “Grow Old With Me (God Bless Our Love)”. Guitar virtuoso Earl Klugh adds some spice on this song with some of his great guitar work.

This CD has a lot of very strong material. If you like anything by the Winans, you’ll love this CD. But Michael & Regina have their own ministry and their own sound, and this project is just confirmation of it.

Michael & Regina not only are gifted singers, but are wonderful songwriters as well co-writing almost all of the cuts on this project. I hope this is just the beginning of their joint music ministry. Put this one on and let it play.
