The Nashville String Machine also appears on The Christmas Hope’s opening anthem, “The Song of Christmas” and the timeless “What A Wonderful World.” Other noteworthy contributions on the Christmas CD include Matthew West, who co-wrote the album’s title track with Carswell; a duet with Rachael Lampa on “The Christmas Blessing;” (which also features The Prague Orchestra) and Anointed who provides guest vocals for the sacred spiritual “Jesus What a Wonderful Child.”

Some of Nashville’s most acclaimed and in-demand session musicians like guitarist Kenny Greenberg and horn player Rod McGaha are featured on The Christmas Hope, and the drum corps from Middle Tennessee State University provides an authentic touch to “Little Drummer Boy.” Finally, the Christmas spirit would not be complete without children and they are prominent on The Christmas Hope, including the brand new version of “The Christmas Shoes.”

The Christmas Hope will be distributed by Provident-Integrity Distribution to Christian retail and to general market through Sony Music.

NewSong has recorded 14 albums featuring 20 No. 1 singles including such signature songs as “Arise My Love,” “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down,” “Red Letter Day,” and the recent singles “Psalm 40” and “Rescue.” Their holiday anthem, “The Christmas Shoes,” became a #1 mainstream radio hit, and inspired a New York Times-bestselling book and CBS Movie of the Week. The album of the same name was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 2003. Their multi-artist “Winter Jam” Tours, which they began hosting in 1995, have grown to become the largest attended Christian music tours in the industry.

NewSong was originally founded in the early 80s when original members Eddie Carswell and Billy Goodwin along with several others served as the “house band” at their local church. Throughout the years, numerous talented artists have become NewSong “alumni” before launching successful solo careers of their own. Among those alums are Russ Lee, Charles Billingsley and Michael O’Brien.
