NEW YORK CALL - Saturday August 23 2008

Long Island , NY – NEW YORK CALL organizers finalized this year's line up for the NEW YORK CALL set for later this month. As usual, the annual all-day event will be packed with Gospel entertainment and inspired speakers.

Now in its 5 th year, the NEW YORK CALL will host four dynamic homegrown preachers from the Tri-State area. From West Haven , CT , Pastor Ken Vance of Living Word Ministries joins the New York Call for the first time. Pastor Vance is an anointed speaker who embodies the theme of the New York Call for unity and fellowship among Christians. Also scheduled is Chaplain Maria Lopez , a dedicated member of the clergy who works with the New York State Department of Corrections, who will come and share her experiences from her tireless efforts in prison ministry. Pastor Robert Lowe , of the Mount Moriah AME Church in Queens will also speak to the expected crowd. Closing out the day will be founder of the New York Call and Sr. Pastor of Perfecting Faith Church , Pastor Donnie McClurkin . Pastor McClurkin who rose to acclaim with his record-breaking and award-winning Gospel albums, will bring his dynamic preaching to the event he envisioned over 5 years ago. The gathering at Eisenhower Park will include family activities featuring health & wellness, education/career, kids and family pavilions. Pavilions offer an opportunity to obtain FREE health information and screenings; which include blood pressure, glucose and colon, with a specific focus on heart and stroke information provided by the American Heart Association. There will be interactive games, sports and activities for youth and the entire family, as well as FREE samplings and giveaways. Everything gets underway at 12 noon.   A musical Gospel concert is also scheduled to begin at 3:00pm featuring Damita Haddon, Jason Champion, Darwin Hobbs and Regina Belle ; plus local groups Splinter, the Beth Shalom Worship Team, and the Immanuel Dance troupe. The Park is located in East Meadow , New York on Hempstead Turnpike and as always the festivities are FREE and open to the public.
