2008 R&R Convention Gospel Brunch September 17-19

  2008-09-17

Virginia Beach, VA - “It is truly an honor to have Willie Mae McIver on board as the moderator for the 2008 R&R Convention Gospel Brunch”, says Darnella Dunham, Urban/Rhythmic/Gospel Editor for R&R. McIver is the VP of Programming and National Program Director for Rejoice! Musical Soul Food, a 24-hour, 7 days a week, nationally syndicated Gospel Music Radio Network, that airs in 42 markets.

McIver, who is a 28-year radio veteran says, “I am excited about the opportunity to discuss “The Gospel According To Radio” with such a distinguished panel of radio personalities, programmers, and producers. For years Gospel and Urban Radio stations have shared listeners to a certain degree. It is more prevalent now than ever. Gospel Programmers need to find a way to capitalize on their fringe audience numbers and that will be one of the areas of discussion, during our panel”.

The panel includes, Radio One Gospel OM and WNNL-FM/Raleigh PD Jerry Smith, WLIB-AM/New York afternoon drive personality Pastor Hezekiah Walker, WGRB-AM (Inspiration 1390)/Chicago PD/afternoon personality Sonya Blakey, WPGC-AM(Heaven 1580/Washington D.C./PD John Deadwyler, and Brother Larry Jones and Marcus D. Wiley from the “Yolanda Adams Morning Show”.

The Brunch will also feature performances by Candi Staton, Niyoki, and James Fortune. For more details about the conference, go to www.radioandrecords.com.

The Rejoice! Musical Soul Food programming is a mix of today’s Contemporary and Traditional Gospel music, blended with classics, and is targeted to African-Americans aged 25-54.
