Music One/Sony Urban Gospel recording artist Jeff Majors releases his sixth CD from the Sacred Series Brand - Sacred Chapter 6 in stores September 20. Sacred Chapter 6 is the mid-point in his evolving 12-part Sacred Series.

The latest CD features guest performances by gold and platinum-selling superstar Kelly Price , traditional Gospel great, Dottie Peoples , and cutting-edge, hip-hop rappers, Gospel Gangstaz. The first single, “God's Gift,” featuring Kelly Price is a soulful, impassioned performance testifying to the universally, unchanging value and worth of every human being in God's creation. “That song was just meant for Kelly,” says Jeff, “and she took it exactly where it needed to go. When she began to sing it in the studio, you could almost hear the instrumental tracks breath a sigh of relief, as if they were saying, `Thank you, Kelly, for singing this song.' It was an anointed gift.” “God's Gift” was the most added song at R&R the week ending August 26, surpassing Kirk Franklin, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, Shekinah Glory Ministry and Marvin Sapp.

Jeff will be featured on a series of upcoming promotional events including the Boston Stone Soul Festival (September 3), Publick Play House Holiday Celebration (December 17) and other year-end events. He was just featured on Bishop T.D. Jakes' Mega Fest's “Women of Purpose” Concert at Phillips Arena on August 4 with Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills, Martha Munizzi, Vickie Winans, Dottie Peoples, Karen Clark-Sheard, The Clark Sisters and others.

Jeff Majors, a native of Washington , D.C. , spent part of his youth living and studying in a monastery. His spiritual journey later led him to ordination as a minister in the Pentecostal Church at age 19, though by that time his ministry, and ever-evolving awareness of his own spirituality, had found its most meaningful expression in music.

He had been first drawn to the harp in his mid-teens, when he saw and heard himself in a dream, playing the instrument to “chase away demons.” He shared his vision with the owner of a D.C. music store who, completely unexpectedly, actually custom-built a small harp for Jeff. “An inexpressible, divine communication occurs when I'm playing the harp. Music is from and of God,” he says.

Jeff's love of music also led him to work as a deejay on a popular D.C. radio station, as he continued to develop as writer and performer. Jeff clicked in the world of radio and began climbing a ladder of success that has led him today to his position as Vice President of Gospel Programming for Radio One, Inc., one of the nation's major radio conglomerates, and as host of the top-rated, weekly Sunday Morning Joy , which features six hours of the best of contemporary and classic Gospel music.

Jeff is also beginning his third season this fall as host of the hit series, “The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors,” seen nationwide in more than 22 million homes on the network TV One on cable and Direct TV. On what is the first national, weekly Gospel variety music television broadcast in history, top contemporary artists as well as many of the biggest names in Gospel join Jeff for conversation and huge helpings of incredible music, representing the full spectrum of Gospel music, and including such genres as reggae Gospel, hip-hop Gospel and Gospel jazz, including Jeff's own singular offerings on the harp.

In addition top-billed performances in churches, auditoriums, and concert halls throughout the United States and around the world, Jeff has recently partnered with the American Cancer Society and other charitable organizations to share his music with the sick and suffering in hospitals, clinics, half-way houses, and drug rehabilitation centers. Majors' signature classic, “Psalms 23” is currently being praised throughout the nation as a staple in the Gospel/Christian community and the song that truly showcases Jeff Majors' anointed talent as a composer and arranger. Majors has performed the signature classic at a variety of events including a 9/11 tribute, weddings, funerals, music award shows and events, anniversary celebrations (Brown vs. Board of Education 50 th Anniversary Commemoration at he Constitution Center 2004), political functions and a host of other stellar events.

Sacred Chapter 6 and “The Sacred Series” have come to comprise a significant number of musical forms and genres, but always with that consciousness of praise and worship in the mind. “In every human heart, there's an indescribable, but very real, place that is reserved for things sacred, whether a person realizes it and cultivates it or not. That's the place from which my music arises and is directed, and I think the harp uniquely speaks to that in people in ways that we've never experienced before. There's a peace of God I find in making music that really does surpass all understanding and all definition, and when you feel it, you don't have to question it. You just know it. It's a wonderful, very calming place to be, and very healing and therapeutic. And it's been one of my greatest rewards to find that it's not private or exclusive to me. This music is very accessible to anyone and everyone, and equally healing and uplifting to all who hear it.”

“Each of these songs, and albums, has just flowed, as if they and the harp were telling me what they wanted and required - the moods, the colors, the shapes and imagery,” Jeff concludes. “It has been, and remains, my job and my blessing, to hear and follow those requests. I'm always excited to discover what's going to come next.”
