Shirley Murdock Makes Bold Statement With "I Love Me Better Than That"
First Single From Stellar New Gospel CD, “Soul Food”
She’s known for the urban radio classics “As We Lay” and “Husband.” However, R&B veteran Shirley Murdock is singing a new tune entitled “I Love Me Better Than That” which is meant to encourage and inspire people to self-improvement and self-love.
The new single is already gaining praise. A recent Billboard magazine reviewer wrote: "I Love Me Better Than That" shows that the soul singer still has the moxie to grab hold of the adult R&B charts with a gospel-oozing number that promises that despite being let down by a man, she's going to conjure all of her individual strength, `Cuz, I love me better than that.’ Vocally, Murdock humbly pretty much dares anyone to compete—in fact; she's the fair female comparison to the equally potent Luther Vandross. A commando performance.”
Murdock knows of what she sings. She’s a woman, who has survived a whole lot of heartache and pain. “I Love Me Better Than That” is a personal testimony that permeates her forthcoming CD “Soul Food”
which will be released March 20, 2007 on Tyscot Records. Through it all, she’s traded her tears for laughter, and in her own words, “I’ve gotten beauty for ashes.”
