The Clark Sisters To Release Highly-Anticipated Reunion Album
On the highly anticipated new EMI Gospel release, "Live - One Last Time," the legendary Clark Sisters bring together their dynamic riffs, soulful scats and untouched harmonies as they continue to inspire and influence the music industry with their first joint recording since 1994.
As pioneers of the contemporary gospel format, The Clark Sisters are credited with helping to bring gospel music to the mainstream. Their latest collaboration of new songs and old favorites rekindles the magic of the famed “Clark Sound” as one of the most anticipated gospel albums of the year hits stores on April 10.
The album is a potpourri of uplifting and touching songs of hope and features the debut single written by Karen Clark Sheard - “Blessed & Highly Favored,” - a breathtaking and beautifully written piece that cements her place as one of the great songwriters of her era. Another uplifting and joyous single, “Living’,” was written expressly for the Clark Sisters by Stellar and Grammy Awards winning Gospel artist and producer Donald Lawrence.
“The first time that Donald played ‘Living’ for us, we felt exactly like we did the first time that Twinkie played ‘You Brought the Sunshine’ for the rest of us,” says Jacky Clark-Chisholm. “We were blown away! It’s such a happy song, and we just could not stop singing it. It’s us plain and simple.”
“Live – One Last Time” once again establishes The Clark Sisters preeminent place as world-class Gospel icons. Along with writing contributions from Clark Sheard and Lawrence, who wrote two songs for the album, Twinkie Clark, who has long been group’s chief song writer offered 12 of the 16 featured songs on the album, along with Dorinda who wrote “Looking To Get There.”
One of the album’s showstoppers is the landmark cut that elevated the group into a musical class of their own, “You Brought The Sunshine.” The remake of this gospel classic is as fresh, powerful and relevant as it was when it was introduced to the world back in 1981.
After 16 albums and millions of sales to their credit, this encore one-time recording is the perfect ending to what is one of gospel music’s most phenomenal success stories. All of The Clark Sisters have had tremendous successes. In 1999, The Clark Sisters were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Each sister has also experienced success as solo artists with Twinkie Clark, Karen Clark Sheard and Dorinda Clark Cole all released respective solo projects in 2002. Eldest sister Jacky Clark Chisholm released her solo debut in 2005.
