VICKIE WINANS – The Hardest Working Woman in Gospel has been working through the heat of summer to create a very cool CD. She has just finished recording her first Holiday project entitled, “Happy Holidays from Vickie Winans,” the first release on her very own Destiny Joy Records label. The project releases October 2, 2007 with distribution through Central South Distributors in Nashville, TN. Winans has gone to great lengths to bring fresh new arrangements and musical color to fifteen holiday standards such as “Silent Night,” and “Jingle Bells.” The first two singles are the smooth and sultry, “Special Day,” from Fred Jerkins and the Darkchild camp and the Vickie Winans inspired, get-up-and-dance, “Holiday Jam,” an all year round celebration of every Holiday. The singer’s entire family joins her on “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and her son, Marvin Winans, Jr., shows up on the smooth jazz flavored, “Joy to the World.” One other song that is sure to be a favorite has Winans’ hometown sound of Detroit, entitled, “The Motown, Yotown Family Song!” Winans covers Michael McDonald’s “My Peace,” a beautiful heartfelt tribute to her mother who passed away just before Christmas 2006 at the age of 83. Winans also introduces a rousing rendition of “O Holy Night” by Denise Tichenor, whom Winans recently signed to her label. Also, included is a bonus track, Winans’ latest smash single, “The Rainbow.” The entire album is dedicated to the memory of Winans’ close friend and song collaborator, Kayla Parker-Tolbert, who lost a ten-year battle with cancer earlier this year. This CD will most definitely go down in history as a rich holiday classic! Check out all the latest Vickie Winans news on www.vickiewinans.com |
