Popular Minister and Author Juanita Bynum Assaulted in Atlanta Hotel Parking Lot

New York Times bestselling author and televangelist, Juanita Bynum was assaulted by her husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, the founder of Global Destiny churches.  Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta’s airport, after receiving a call about a disturbance between the couple. According to reports a hotel bellman pulled Weeks off of Bynum at about 4 a.m.

Ronald Campbell, a police officer at the scene, reported said, “She was bruised up and battered.” No charges have been filed against Weeks, who police said left the scene.

Bynum told police that she and Weeks had been separated and were at the hotel to attempt reconciliation.

Bynum, a Pentecostal evangelist rose to notoriety with “No More Sheets,” a sermon and book series charging women to live empowered and to live celibate before marriage. The award-winning author has administrative offices in Waycross, Georgia but lives in Hempstead, N.Y.

Before the incident, Bynum and her husband, Weeks, operated a successful ministry that focused on marriage, economic empowerment and spiritual growth. The two co-created “Teach Me How to Love You,” a book, marriage seminar and sermon series based on their experiences as a couple. Weeks and Bynum married in 2002 in a televised wedding.
