Juanita Bynum Files for Divorce
Plans to attend exclusive Obama fundraiser hosted by Oprah Winfrey
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that evangelist, author and businesswoman Juanita Bynum has filed for divorce. The newspaper published that “a relative” of Bynum’s said that she is divorcing estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, but no public records were available to provide details.
News of the filing spread on radio, TV and the Internet. Louis Tesser, a lawyer for Weeks, said, “We have not heard a thing.” Apparently, no notification had been received about a pending divorce.
On Wednesday, one day after Bynum’s internationally broadcasted declaration of being “the new face of domestic violence,” Weeks broke his public silence by issuing a written statement through his attorneys. In the statement, Weeks admonished people not to rush to judgment and promised to share his version of what happened at the “appropriate” time.
Bynum had been invited to the A-list fundraiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama hosted by Oprah Winfrey at the media maven’s 42-acre estate in California. According to reports, the evangelist hopes to talk to Obama about domestic violence and the new ministry she is establishing for women who have suffered at the hands of the men who are suppose to love them.
