The Gospel Music Channel hopes to cool the country’s heat wave with a little Christmas spirit in September when they set up an on-location production shoot at Nashville’s historic and enchanting Union Station Hotel on Sept. 18 and 19 featuring a line-up of today’s top Gospel/Christian musical artists Trin-i-tee 5:7, Take 6, Natalie Grant, American Idols Mandisa & George Huff, Jars of Clay and more.

The artists will perform Christmas songs as part of a two-day television production as GMC will produce five full-length Christmas-themed concert programs in front of live audience to air in December. For local music fans, it means the opportunity to see their favorite artists perform live in an intimate venue and celebrate the Christmas season a few months early.

Two shows will be taped each night with Monday, Sept. 18 slated for an American Idol reunion with Mandisa and George Huff. Tuesday, Sept. 19 will feature Christmas concerts with Natalie Grant and Jars of Clay. The concert tapings begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to the tapings are free, but on a first come, first served basis. GMCs website, www.GospelMusicChannel.com has all the details.

GMC will transform the recently renovated Union Station - A Wyndham Historic Hotel at 1001 Broadway in downtown Nashville into a Christmas wonderland for the tapings. The shows will be presented in the hotels lobby which is adorned with 65-foot, barrel-vaulted lobby ceilings featuring gold-leaf mirrors, 100-year-old, Tiffany-style stained glass, and rare bas-relief sculptures.
