Breaking his silence, Thomas Weeks III, held a press conference on the grounds of Global Destiny Ministries on Thanksgiving Day to address everything from his wife’s interview with Essence Magazine to the tax debt on their Georgia home to his thoughts on the couple’s impending divorce. Weeks said, “The time has come to bring clarity to a number of rumors, conjectures, lies, dramatized statements. I have not come here to attack Juanita Bynum.”  He furthered that in order to protect his wife; he has purposely rejected countless opportunities for interviews to publicly answer allegations against him regarding domestic violence. He said, “I must address fact from fiction,” calling the rumors and conjectures “a serious plot to destroy” his ministry and everything that “I am about.”

In a startling confession, Weeks stated that the marks documented in photographs supplied by Bynum to the police and to the media were not made by him. He reiterated that he has never placed a hand on his wife in a violent manner during their five years of marriage and on the night in question, he only pushed her away and off of him causing her to fall to the ground. The pastor of Global Destiny, asked reporters to think critically about the photographs, which were taken by Bynum’s staff after she refused treatment and to be photographed at the crime scene by the police. He asked journalists in attendance to think about why “the photos were pushed to a gossip Web site before the police filed an incident report.”

Weeks maintained that he never put his hands on his wife violently but told reporters that he had been beaten by his wife. He says that he will share in court the numerous documents and witness accounts of the times Bynum has choked him and attacked him physically.

He stated that he believed that she is violent because of an “inability to control a situation.” Referring to the night he met with Bynum at the Georgia hotel, Weeks clarified that he was there at her invitation not to discuss “tithes and offerings” as she initially reported but rather to discuss her desire to utilize Global Destiny resources to forward her personal ministry plans after a judge ordered an injunction, at her request, barring him from doing so. He said the conversation took an ugly turn when “As a pastor and her husband, I softly rebuked her to ‘get back to God.’”
