Caravans’ Grammy, Soul Train, Dove, Now Stellar Nominations
Jackson, MS. - The Year 2007 was a ‘stellar’ year for The Caravans and the debut of their forty-year reunion CD, Paved The Way. Adding to this years’ Grammy, Soul Train, and Dove nominations are three possible awards for the 2008 Stellar Awards: CD of the Year, Traditional Group/Duo of the Year, and Traditional CD of the Year. The Stellar Awards will be held on January 12, 2008 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. Hosts for this prestigious event are CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin and Byron Cage.
At the request of original member, Dorothy Norwood, Albertina Walker (long-time friend and founding member of The Caravans), Inez Andrews and Delores Washington reunited to record both classic Caravans hits and original music for the album produced by Norwood. Paved The Way remained on the Billboard Album Charts for over 22 weeks, peaking at #7.
Norwood, never one to rest on her laurels, recently released another self-produced solo project to add to her arsenal: No Request. No Request, recorded live in Jackson, Mississippi with the internationally renowned Mississippi Mass Choir, in stores now along with DVD.
