THIS MARCH CDS Feature A Who’s Who in Gospel Past and Present

Time-Life and BET J will jointly present two dynamic collections of timeless gospel choir songs in March 2008. Voices: The Ultimate Gospel Choir Collection and Going Up Yonder: The Best of the Gospel Choirs both feature a dozen classic black gospel choir songs. This is the first collection that brings together the most important gospel choirs singing their best known songs all in one place. These collections will be featured in an upcoming BET television special and will also be a part of a major advertising campaign.

Voices: The Ultimate Gospel Choir Collection boasts such #1 hits as Kirk Franklin & the Family’s 1993 breakthrough smash, “Why We Sing,”and one of Oprah Winfrey’s favorite gospel tracks, Hezekiah Walker’s “I Need You to Survive.” There are rousing ballads such as Richard Smallwood with Vision’s “Total Praise,” Kirk Franklin’s “Imagine Me” and the Kurt Carr Singer’s “I Almost Let Go.” Other standouts include Aretha Franklin’s Sunday morning take on “You’ve Got A Friend” and Donald Lawrence & the Tri-City Singers’ affirmative “The Best is Yet to Come.”

Going Up Yonder: The Best of the Gospel Choirs is equally thrilling with three Walter Hawkins & the Love Center Choir chestnuts “Going Up Yonder,” ”I’m Going Away” and “Be Grateful.” The late Danniebelle Hall offers her bustling rendition of Dottie Rambo’s “I Go to the Rock” while her mentor, Andrae Crouch, submits “Soon and Very Soon.” The project is rounded out with contemporary  smashes such as Rev. Clay Evans’ toe tapping “I’ve Got A Testimony” and Bishop Paul S.

Morton & the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Mass Choir’s mega hit “Let it Rain.” The collections were compiled by Time Life Music Vice President Mitchell Peyser and gospel music historian and top rated DJ, Jacquie Gales Webb. Both sets include colorful CD booklets with liner notes and candid photos of various artists featured on the sets.Visit www.timelife.com for more information on these and other fine gospel collections.
