Legendary Gospel Label Light Records Continues To Influence A New Generation Of Gospel Fans
Nashville, TN: The legendary Light Records label that gave birth to the careers of Andrae Crouch, Walter Hawkins and the Winans three decades ago; continues to build its brand and influence a new generation of gospel fans. Light is currently enjoying Billboard Top Ten hit CDs by Gospel’s First Lady, Shirley Caesar; Bishop Paul S. Morton and even a Grammy nomination for SWV front woman, Coko’s debut gospel project “Grateful” that also features cameos by Fantasia, Donald Lawrence and Faith Evans.
As a result of parent company Sheridan Square’s continuing commitment to gospel music and building a staff with broader skill sets (e.g., catalogue exploitation, artist branding, visual media and product merchandising), Light Records President Phillip White, has announced two staff enhancements. A thirty-year music sales veteran, Terry Donovan, who has worked at RCA, BMG and Pickwick International in the past; has been added to the staff and assumed the role of Vice President of Sales. Paul Colson has been with the label since December 2003 and performed in a variety of roles, from promotion and marketing to most recently as Head of Sales for the entire label group. He has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing.
"In a time where most labels tend to be cutting back, it is great to see that we are growing in a variety of functions and are able to best utilize the resources we already have to be able to better react to the current changing business model," Colson says.
Phil White continues, “We are strategically positioning Light Records to embrace the paradigm shift facing the music industry as we empower our artists to expand the impact of their music and ministry.”
