Dottie Rambo’s Final Interview to be Seen On The Gospel Music Channel May 17 & May 19
Interview Featured in Faith & Fame: Dottie Rambo, Re-Edited to Reflect Music Legend’s Passing Last Sunday
Atlanta, GA – The “undisputed queen of southern gospel music,” Dottie Rambo, was tragically killed last Sun. May 11 when her tour bus ran off a highway near Mount Vernon, Mo. she was 74.
What is believed to be Rambo’s last public interview will be seen in the newest episode of Gospel Music Channel (GMC) television network biography series Faith & Fame, the network announced today. The original version of Faith & Fame: Dottie Rambo premiered on GMC on April 26 and has been re-edited as a tribute to the Gospel music legend and reflects her untimely passing. The new version of Faith & Fame: Dottie Rambo will premiere Sat. May 17 at 2:00 PM (ET) and be seen again in primetime on Mon. May 19 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT)
Rambo was interviewed for her Faith & Fame episode on March 27th, 2008 at NorthStar Studios in Nashville.
Dottie Rambo began writing songs at the age of eight and her career took off as a teenager as a songwriter and a performer. Her distinctive voice and affecting delivery won her legions of fans and her career soared through the early '80s. But health problems arose and sidelined her for almost two decades. She returned triumphantly in 2003 with the release of her “Stand By The River” album; her title track duet with Dolly Parton became a hit and won accolades. Rambo also earned a Dove Award for her song, “I Go to The Rock," sung by Whitney Houston in the motion picture 'The Preacher's Wife." Others artists who have recorded Rambo’s songs include: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Barbara Mandrell, Dottie West, Crystal Gayle, Larry Gatlin, Sandy Patti, Tom T. Hall, Vince Gill, Bill Gaither, Andrae Crouch and many others. Among her 2,500 published songs, Rambo’s biggest hit was the inspirational 'He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need.” Other well-known titles include 'We Shall Behold Him,' 'If That Isn't Love,' 'The Perfect Rose,' 'Behold The Lamb,' 'Build My Mansion Next Door To Jesus,' 'To Much To Gain To Los,' 'Remind Me Dear Lord,' 'Tears Will Never Stain The Streets Of that City,' 'I Will Glory In The Cross' and 'I've Never Been This Homesick Before.'
