In the Summer/Fall of 2003, a 1 hour television pilot entitled, “Urban Inspirations” (UI) was taped and hosted by world–renowned recording artist, 5-time Stellar Award winner & syndicated radio host, TONEX, fresh face of Howard University graduate, Lisa Robinson along with the video of the week segment hosted by Washington DC’s own distinguished youth pastor, Rev. Tony Lee. “Urban Inspirations” (UI) also featured “Live” performances by PAJAM’s, Music World/Columbia recording artists RAMIYAH and independent Hip Hop artist King Solomon.

“Urban Inspirations” (UI) was developed to assist in cultivating and propelling this growing genre of music directly into the mainstream while preserving the ancestry on its origin, Traditional Gospel music. In the spirit of the longest running television show in the history of television, “Soul Train,”, “American Bandstand”, to more modern day youthful shows such as “Teen Summit,” and “106 & Park,” “Urban Inspirations” (UI) will feature “Live” performances from chart topping artists, dancers, fashion, music videos, trivia games and discussions on topics that affect today’s youth; However, “Urban Inspirations” (UI) is committed to highlighting music that is spiritually principally based, uplifting & inspiring.

Creator & Executive Producer, D.A. Johnson states, “Urban Inspirations” (UI) was a vision that I had over 10 years ago. I saw the direction that Gospel music was heading and I knew that in order for this new generation of Gospel music and artists to be successful, they needed a formable national platform to showcase their contributions to the masses.

And now five years later,  2008, my prayer is that “Urban Inspirations” (UI) will become instrumental in perpetuating the “Urban Inspirational” music genre as The Arsenio Hall Show was to perpetuating the Urban Hip Hop genre in the 90’s. “
