Damita Returns with Long-Awaited New Solo Album ‘No Looking Back’ Set to Hit Stores July 22, 2008
New York, NY – Damita Haddon returns to the music world after an 8-year break since her last solo album. Fans who have been anxiously awaiting her next project will finally get to hear Damita’s signature vocals on the fresh and innovative CD, NO LOOKING BACK.
NO LOOKING BACK is a reintroduction for Damita, who has been born & bred in the Gospel genre. From her early days with her twin sister in Adoration-N-Prazye, to her standout work with Deitrick Haddon & VOU, to her first solo debut in 2000 Damita moves ahead toward her destiny.
Stepping right into the role of young Gospel Star, Damita’s style and sound are all hers. She is chic and hip and brings the right amount of sass to gospel music. NO LOOKING BACK perfectly blends R&B sounds with Pop stylings combining to make this CD a genuine knock-out.
From its Urban Inspirational, Urban Contemporary, Praise and Worship and Rock sounds, to its Caribbean beats NO LOOKING BACK is decidedly youth-inspired. “I went a little youthful on this release because I think our young people really need this right now … We need to get their attention,” said Damita.
Leading the way is the standout single title track, “No Looking Back,” a pop-infused track where Damita’s vocals shine and the groove of the music grabs you. Others to listen out for are the updated smoothed out version of the classic “I Won’t Complain,” and the soothing and introspective “Midnight.” Exhibiting real range on this project, Damita moves away from the expected and offers a subtly that has more impact that the standard stomping and shouting of the genre.
NO LOOKING BACK presents a fresh sound and sets the standard for Urban Contemporary Gospel releases to come. NO LOOKING BACK in stores everywhere July 22, 2008.
