EMI Gospel Set To Release Teenager Merche Moore

At sixteen years old, Merche Moore is already a pioneer. She is set to become one of the first digitally exclusive artists on EMI Gospel. Her first single, You’re the One hit airwaves and mp3 players across the country on July 22nd. We’re excited to be able to share with the world, one of Music City’s best young talents, Merche is truly gifted and has quite a message to share with today’s youth, says Ken Pennell, President of EMI Gospel.

Lay aside her amazing vocal ability and the fact that she has been singing and performing since she was a toddler, it appears Merche is your typical 21st century teenage girl – complete with a healthy text messaging habit and a young R&B crooner by the name of Chris Brown serving as the man of her dreams. However, dig just beyond the surface, and you’ll find that there is truly more to this young artist than meets the eye. Sometimes teenagers get caught up on what they think the music should sound like. If it’s traditional they don’t want to hear it, she says. So I try to approach them with the style of music they may already listen to on their iPod, but keep it positive. If they like the music, maybe they’ll pay a little bit more attention to the words.

Since the age of six, her young career has included sharing the stage with gospel greats Mary Mary, opening for Nicole C. Mullen and also working with Nicole’s husband, prominent music producer, David Mullen. It also includes a stint at age thirteen as a cast member on the thirty-one city Veggie Tales Rockin’ Tour Live. You’re The One, an upbeat, Pop/R&B-influenced track, Produced by Grammy-nominated Producer, David “DaMonsta” Lynch, reminds the listener that “No matter what we’re going through, Jesus has been so good,” says Merche.
