Nashville , TN - Dr. Bobby Jones, host of the Black Entertainment Television's (BET) longest running TV series “Bobby Jones Gospel”, is featured in the August 11, 2008 issue of Jet magazine. The two-page feature spotlights Dr. Jones' educational achievements (two earned Ph.D.s), his 28 years as BET's gospel ambassador, his influence on giving artists such as Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams their first big breaks and his new Gospel Music Channel TV series “Next Generation.”

“This was the first time they've written about me in my entire career,” says Grammy winner Jones of the magazine. “It's so nice to be honored in this way and to be recognized for all of the hard work we've done and the doors we've sought to open for gospel artists all over the world.”

Jones' BET program has been airing around the world for almost 30 years, so its no surprise that he's quite the celebrity in countries as diverse as Italy and Jamaica . Jones, who is serving his second term as Ambassador of Dominica, has been commissioned by the White House to travel to China for the upcoming Olympic Games. Jones, in his diplomatic position, will interview various athletes for his TV programs that air on BET, the Word Network and the Gospel Channel.

“I have always wanted to go to China ,” Jones says. “This opportunity is coming at the perfect time in my life and I look forward to being there with the officials from the White House and representing the United States .”

In other news, Dr. Jones' has just signed a contract with Amistad Books to publish a cook book of his favorite recipes and Time Life Music has tapped him as the spokesman for their current 10-CD "The Ultimate Gospel Box" series of CDs of music ranging from the 1940s to the present day.
