The gospel world is buzzing about Jonathan Nelson & his Baltimore- based group, Purpose. He and his collaborator, Justin Savage, have co- written a half dozen Top Ten gospel hits over the last couple of years. Young and young-at-heart gospel fans are now chirping about the energetic radio smash “My Name is Victory” which is currently sitting at #8 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart with a bullet.

Nelson's first Integrity Music CD Right Now Praise is continuing to build its story and gain him an enthusiastic audience. The stellar collection is rounded out with a dozen other songs featuring gospel luminaries such as Sheri Moffet-Jones on “Yes, Out There”, William Murphy on “Great and Mighty”, Nikki Ross on “Already Mine” and Nelson's twin brother Jason on “Right Now Praise” – the next radio single.

For the last few years, there's been much industry buzz about Nelson and his brilliant songwriting abilities. He and Savage have either written or co-written such modern day gospel smashes as Youth for Christ's “The Struggle is Over” which was #1 on Billboard magazine's Hot Gospel songs chart for a dozen weeks in 2007. They also penned other chart hits such as Stephen Hurd's “Destiny” and “Great Praise.”

“Fans of Kirk Franklin will appreciate Nelson's Right Now Praise, an uplifting gospel album,” Cameron conant wrote in Christian Retailing magazine. “His vocal approach resembles Kik Franklin's, especially his exuberant talk-sing style. Both share a certain authenticity, too, making Right Now Praise more of a recorded church service than a performance.” Perhaps, the Charlotte Post's Winfred Cross said it best: “This is certainly going to be remembered as one of the best gospel CDs offered Nelson is about to steal the spotlight.”
