Donald Lawrence Records "The Law Of Confession" and Emcees Verzion Wireless How Sweet The Sound Tour
Grammy winning producer Donald Lawrence recently staged his sophomore live CD recording as a solo artist for the Quiet Water/Verity/Zomba Label Group. On the forthcoming CD entitled “The Law of Confession,” Lawrence was backed by a ten-member group of singers calling themselves The Co. The ensemble brought verve, devotion and refinement to a dozen songs inspired by the forthcoming book of the same name by Lawrence's pastor Bill Winston of Chicago's The Living Word Christian Center (where the project was also recorded before a capacity audience). “A law is simply a principle, based on the predictable consequence of an act,” Lawrence says. “Confession in the Greek language is homo-logeo which means to say what has been said. There is a spiritual law for confession: you just say what God has already said...`Speak The Word.'”
While Quiet Water/Verity/Zomba preps the project for release, Lawrence is also in the studio producing projects with the legendary Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Pastor Hezekiah Walker, and others. However, Verizon Wireless has first tapped the former Tri-City Choir leader as emcee for their national “How Sweet the Sound” gospel choir talent competition. Building upon last year's contest in Memphis, Verizon is now giving choirs in 11 cities a chance to compete in the national grand finale for a cash prize of up to $50,000 and the title of the best choir in America. Lawrence is on board as the tour emcee at each of the 11 markets and the finale. Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker and other gospel artists will join the competition as judges.
