Celebrity singer-turned actress, Jessica Simpson, is reportedly planning to return to school to study religion. Simpson began her singing career in the church and as the daughter of a Baptist minister (father) and Sunday School teacher (mother), Simpson got and early start in gospel music. When she was a teenager, she was signed to a Christian label, but the label folded before the album was released. Simpson decided to launch the album herself and was later signed to Columbia Records as a mainstream artist. The label refused to sign her on as a Christian artist.

Inspired by The Da Vinci Code, Simpson told the magazine she is contemplating taking theology courses in college. "I remember whenever the book The Da Vinci Code came out, the Discovery Channel did this three-night piece on it that I Tivoed and then watched eight times."

Simpson left school when she was 16 to launch her music career within the Christian music industry, but earned her GED later on. Simpson says she loves religion and reading self-help books. “I am the first person to go to Barnes & Noble and buy the new self-help book. I like to fill out the surveys, then I get my friends’ opinions on how I answered to see if I was being honest with myself or not," she says.

Simpson is currently dating NFL football player, Tony Romo. She became famous for her role on the MTV reality series, Newlyweds, while married to 98 Degrees star, Nick Lahey. The two are now divorced. Starting in January, Simpson will be going on tour, opening for Rascal Flatts in various cities.
