Bishop EDDIE Long Launches Latino Services

Lithonia, GA. - Bishop Eddie L. Long recently announced the creation of New Birth Latino and its new pastor- Eddie Velez. Beginning January 28, 2007, Pastor Velez will open the doors of the Lithonia cathedral to its first Spanish-speaking service. The services are set to begin each Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

“As our community continues to grow, it’s our job as the church to reach and impact lives of all color,” said Bishop Long who serves as senior pastor of the 25,000 member congregation. “I am excited about the new services and New Birth reaching out to our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Pastor Velez, who formally served as theSeniorDirectorof YouthDevelopmentat New Birth, isequally excited about the launch of the new service. “I thank God for the burden He has authored in the heart of our Bishop for the Latino People. I was truly comfortable ministering in English to the youth culture, when Bishop Long challenged me to minister the gospel message in Spanish to our Latino brothers and sisters. This is not a new or separate church, simply New Birthexperiencing a new birth to minister the gospel message to the Latino culture.”
