Author of Gospel Music Books, Dr. Robert L. Jefferson, Releases Rendition Of Classic Hymn, “I Must Tell Jesus”

clip image004

(Washington, DC) – January 26, 2016 - Gospel Music Education Pioneer Dr. Robert L. Jefferson has been a lover of Gospel music for most of his life. It was his love for the genre and his desire to teach others how to play Gospel piano that spurred him to pen books like How To Play Gospel Music For Beginners which was followed by How to Play Gospel Music for Beginners Book 2, Gospel Music Performance Practice and Technique Volumes 1 & 2 and Spirituals and Gospel Music Performance Practice: A Dual Curriculum that Bridges the Cultural Divide. A vocal artist in addition to a phenomenal pianist, Dr. Jefferson has just released a brand new single, “I Must Tell Jesus”. The single is currently available on iTunes, CDBaby, and other digital outlets. Earlier this month, he performed the song on WATC-TV’s Babbie’s House, hosted by CCM award-winning songwriter and artist Babbie Mason, and on Atlanta Live.

Written by Elisha Albright Hoffman, also known for composing “Leaning On The Everlasting Arms”, “I Must Tell Jesus” is one of the most enduring hymns sung. Jefferson loves the hymn. “I decided to record, ‘I Must Tell Jesus’ because it has such a timely and timeless message,” says Dr. Jefferson. “During a period in my life when I was going through so many personal trials and difficulties, the Holy Spirit reminded me to look to Jesus for help. Sometimes we forget that Jesus is always there to help and assist us. He is a kind, compassionate friend.”

Dr. Robert L. Jefferson has been blessed with the gift of music since his youth. His early training started with sacred music within the walls of the church from the age of 7. He took piano lessons and also learned to play by ear. Later in life, he was mentored by Alma Androzzo, the composer of one of Dr. Martin Luther King’s favorite songs, “If I Can Help Somebody”. Androzzo helped Dr. Jefferson to understand the importance of sharing his knowledge of music with others. That was the impetus to teach fans of Gospel music how to play. Many years ago, when he searched for books to help teach students, nothing was available. So he decided to write books to assist in the learning process. They are still recognized among as some of the leading books on the market to teach Gospel piano. In addition to his educational resources, he also offers piano lessons, workshops, weekend intensive residency courses, and private lessons and coaching in voice and piano through his company, Jefferson Presents. He has also developed a certification program for Gospel music in conjunction with Nazareth College and Seminary

Dr. Jefferson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, a Master of Music degree from the University of Houston, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He has performed with such notable organizations as the Houston Grand Opera, the United States Air Force Pacific Air Command Ensemble in Tokyo, Japan as well as the Soldiers’ Chorus of The United States Army Field Band, Washington, DC. He has also performed with major symphonic orchestras and in concert halls including Strathmore, Meyerhoff, Boston Symphony and Carnegie Hall. For more information about Dr. Robert L. (New York, NY – January 23, 2016) – Flint, Michigan has been at the top of our news cycle this week in regards to the water crisis facing their city, but this not a new problem. In fact, according to CNN, Flint has been deeply affected by the water crisis since 2014. Residents have been forced to drink, bathe, and/or utilize unclean water and as a result, have experienced major health concerns. A congregation in Flint, Michigan - Bethel United Methodist Church – is in the heart of the affected community, and is one of the Water Emergency Crisis Centers in Flint. The church is unable to use its own water supply, and some of the young children and adults of the church have tragically, already been exposed to lead poisoning. The effects of which are catastrophic, according to Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, Director of Pediatric Residency, at Hurley Medical Center, Flint MI. Dr. Attisha told CNN, "lead is a potent neurotoxin…there is no safe level of lead…lead poisoning affects your cognition and your behavior, it actually drops you IQ."

Brydge Media Collective, LLC. Founder, Gabby Cudjoe Wilkes connected with the pastor of Bethel UMC, and has since been informed that what they need the most is water filters for their church as well as their community, to provide an immediate response to the water crisis at hand., the church is in need of

financial resources to begin meeting the needs of their congregants and community members who have already been exposed to lead poisoning.

ANTHONY BROWN & group therAPy
SPEND 19TH WEEK AT #1* ON BILLBOARD GOSPEL CHART
EARN GRAMMY ® AWARD NOMINATION
AND TEN STELLAR AWARDS FOR #1 “EVERYDAY JESUS” PROJECT

Anthony Brown

(Washington, D.C.) - In an age where the recording industry is bemoaning declining record sales, Anthony Brown & group therAPy is celebrating incredible success with its sophomore album “Everyday Jesus” (Key of A/Vman/Tyscot Records, LLC). The album debuted at #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Top Gospel Albums sales chart and #11 on its Billboard 200 Pop albums sales chart last summer. The bestselling album’s lead single, “Worth” (#1 on Billboard’s Gospel AirPlay radio chart for 19 weeks) has earned the group its first Grammy® Award nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song. The 58th annual Grammy Awards take place February 15, 2016 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will broadcast live 8-11:30 p.m. EST on CBS Television.

The dynamic group has also earned ten Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations (the gospel industry’s answer to the Grammys) – the most of any artist this season - for the project as well, including the coveted Artist of the Year and Song of the Year categories. "Wow...is all I can say. I am so honored and extremely humbled to be nominated," said Brown. "I have a great amount of respect for The Stellar Awards and for all of the artists who share the gospel around the world. I'm elated to be considered amongst them." The 31st Annual Stellar Awards take place February 20, 2016 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV and are scheduled to air on the TV One cable network.

Son of a well-known Baltimore, MD area pastor, Brown formed the group Answered Prayers in 2000 as a showcase for his songwriting skills. His early songs were recorded by a number of artists such as Maurette Brown Clark who earned a #1 hit with his tune “It Ain’t Over” in 2006. He later changed the ensemble’s name to group therAPy with the capitalized AP as a reference to its previous name.  The group’s self-titled debut album premiered in 2012 and spawned the Top 5 radio smash “Testimony” that spent an unprecedented 74 weeks on the Billboard Magazine Gospel AirPlay chart, a chart record.

Blue Engine Records Releases
The Abyssinian Mass
Double album + bonus documentary DVD
from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
with Wynton Marsalis featuring Damien Sneed
and Chorale Le Chateau

Available in stores, online and streaming on March 18

Landmark collaboration of jazz, gospel, instrumentation and vocals marks Marsalis’s first original recorded composition in six years

 IMG 0247

New York, NY – February 8, 2016– Raise your voices and lift your hearts as Blue Engine Records releases The Abyssinian Mass by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis featuring Damien Sneed, Chorale Le Chateau and Special Guest Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III on March 18, 2016.

The Abyssinian Mass — a landmark collaboration of jazz, gospel, instrumentation and vocals — marks Marsalis’s first original recorded composition in six years.

In 2008, nine-time GRAMMY® award winner Marsalis was commissioned to write a piece commemorating the 200th anniversary of Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church. The result was a sacred celebration: a sweeping composition for big band and 70-piece gospel choir conducted by Damien Sneed. The work’s popularity sustained a 16-city, 19-concert tour that brought the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, award-winning recording artist Damien Sneed and his choir Chorale Le Chateau across the American south and into deep dialogue with the black tradition.

“Many of the greatest jazz musicians today come out of the church. The church is one of the last places that retain the actual feeling of the blues in sound and also the call-and-response rituals that are central to our music,” said Wynton Marsalis. “The principal fact ofThe Abyssinian Mass—the feeling that we want you to come away with—is uplift through the way that we all come together."

Blue Engine Records releases The Abyssinian Mass as a double album with bonus documentary DVD featuring performances, interviews and insights behind the music.

The package includes an essay by Leon Wieseltier, author, critic, and contributing editor and former literary editor of The New Republic. “The Abyssinian Mass is a perfect score for the practice of renewal,” Wieseltier writes. “Marsalis has produced music for a full liturgy. The first thing one notices about this work is its magnitude. The mass is massive. In Marsalis’ sweet amplification of the prophet’s verse, this house of prayer is ‘for all, all, all, all nations.’ And for all, all, all, all states of the soul. ‘Everyone has a place in the House of God.’”

On February 5, The Abyssinian Mass will be available for pre-order and the first single, “Recessional: The Glory Train,” will be available for download and on streaming services.

Fans who purchase The Abyssinian Mass via Jazz at Lincoln Center’s webstore will receive a limited edition tote bag and the 2013 Abyssinian Tour Diary. More information can be found on http://store.jazz.org.

The Abyssinian Mass double album and bonus DVD release documents the work’s immense power to make audiences clap and sing, its joyous spirituality, its profound swing and its bluesy swagger. The exploration of the Afro-American experience placesThe Abyssinian Mass in the tradition of Marsalis's Pulitzer Prize-winning Blood on the Fields; as the album reminds us, “In this great land of ours, everyone has a place.”
